Crackle is a weave structure known to weavers that leaves small lines of colors "cracks" found in the warp. There are two warp colors in these- purple and pale gray. The purple is more evident on one side. They are a medium to heavyweight fabric that lies flat on a table. 
 
I machine wash and machine dry all the kitchen pieces I weave so they have been finished as I would any towel in my kitchen.
